The Hobbit™ Motorlodge has a wide variety of accommodation styles, offering premium ground floor studios, first floor studio with mountain views, two bedroom units with or without full cooking facilities, and upstairs suites, some with spa baths, some with mountain views, sleeping as many as five people. We also offer affordable dormitory style bunk bed accommodation in our lodge.
Dog Friendly Accommodation
A ground floor studio unit is available for guests with dogs. Guests must book directly by phone or email. A $25 charge applies to all bookings with dogs. There is a maximum of two dogs in the unit. See terms and conditions below for our pet policy.
Mountain Bikers
We also have secure storage for your bikes and bike washing area available. You can have a free shower in our lodge on the day of your departure after a weekend stay.

2-Bedroom Units
Ground-floor 2-bedroom units featuring a queen-size bed in one bedroom, and 2 single beds in the second bedroom, with a third single bed in living room. Choose between cooking and non-cooking options: cooking units have a full kitchen, while non-cooking units include tea and coffee-making facilities. Each unit has a lounge and dining area. Large bathroom. Smart TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, electric blankets, heater and an iron and ironing board. Ground-floor parking is available at your door.
1-Bedroom Suites
Spacious first-floor 1-bedroom suites accommodating up to 4 or 5 guests. Each suite features a bedroom with a TV, Full kitchen, lounge area with a large Smart TV, DVD player, complimentary Wi-Fi and ensuite bathroom. Some suites also have a spa bath and fantastic mountain views.
1-Bedroom Unit

View Bunkroom Accommodation
We offer affordable dormitory style bunkroom accommodation in our lodge, ideal for ski groups, school groups, sports teams and other travellers looking for budget-friendly accommodation in Ohakune. Rooms are configured with 2, 4 or 6 beds. Guests can book an individual bed and share the room with other guests or book the whole room for their own group.
Bunkrooms are heated and include complimentary Wi-Fi, linen and bedding. Please note that towels are not provided, so guests will need to bring their own. The lodge has a fully equipped communal kitchen, shared bathroom facilities, a comfortable communal lounge, heated drying room for ski and outdoor gear, and guest laundry facilities.
Our bunkroom accommodation provides a convenient and affordable options for travellers and groups wanting to stay together while exploring Ohakune and the Ruapehu region.
+ TERMS AND CONDITIONS
SKI SEASON approximately 15 June - 26 October: A minimum 2 night stay is applicable on weekends and holidays. We require a payment of 1 nights accommodation for all bookings at the time of making the reservation and any remaining balance is required to be paid 7 days prior to arrival.
All cancellations must be notified by email. If more than 7 days’ notice is given your deposit will be refunded less a 10% booking fee. If a cancellation is made less than 7 days prior to arrival, the deposit is non-refundable. There are no refunds for early departure.
MARDI GRAS WEEKEND : A minimum 2-night stay is applicable. To confirm a reservation we require payment to our bank account for 3 night's accommodation. The third night's accommodation will be held as a bond. The bond will be returned in full within 7 days of checkout providing the room does not require additional cleaning and is undamaged. Damages above the value of a single nights booking will be charged additionally.
All cancellations must be notified by email. If more than 1 month’s notice prior to arrival the deposit will be refunded less a 10% cancellation fee. Bookings cancelled less than 1 month prior to arrival will be subject to a 100% cancellation fee i.e. NO REFUND.

GROUP BOOKINGS : All group bookings have individual booking and cancellation policies.
SPECIALS: specials shall be paid in full to our bank account at the time of booking. Specials can only be booked direct, not online.
No visitors are allowed in rooms after 10pm. Any damage to the room or property may be charged, plus a charge for any resultant loss of income if applicable.
This is a non smoking complex, smoking is not permitted in any of the rooms or buildings on the property. Failure to comply with these conditions may incur cleaning and loss of income charges.
Accommodation charges are based on the number of guests booked at the initial booking.
No pets are allowed on the premises apart from those staying in our specific Pet Friendly room.
+ THE HOBBIT™ MOTORLODGE PET POLICY.
- A $25 charge applies to all bookings with dogs, max of two dogs per unit.
- Dogs are not permitted on the beds/furniture and not to be left UNATTENDED in the room.
- Any damage and soiling will result in a charge to the guest. A specific register form is required to be completed on arrival.
- Droppings must be picked up and disposed of in outside rubbish bins.
- Dogs must always be on a leash when outside unit.
- Please bring your own pet beds, food and water bowls.
- If your dog is unruly, barking, or considered dangerous, and causes issues for other guests, you may be required to leave the premises.
- If you are staying for multiple nights, please advise the office of a suitable time to service your room when the dog will not be there.
Midweek Stay & Win-Terms & Conditions
Promotion period: The midweek stay & win promotion commences on 17 August 2026 and continues until further notice, unless withdrawn or amended by The Hobbit Motorlodge.
The midweek Stay & win promotion is available for direct bookings made with The Hobbit Motorlodge by phone or through our official website.
To be eligible, guests must book and stay for 2 or more consecutive nights from Sunday - Thursday.
Eligible bookings are automatically entered into the weekly draw. No separate entry is required.
One eligible booking will be selected and the winner each week.
The winner will receive a complimentary stay for the same number of nights as their qualifying stay. For example, a qualifying 2 night stay wins a 2 night stay, and a qualifying 3 night stay wins a 3 night stay.
The prize stay must be booked directly with The Hobbit motorlodge and is subject to availability.
The prize cannot be exchanged for cash or used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.
If the qualifying booking is cancelled, shortened or otherwise no longer meets the promotion requirements, it will no longer be eligible for the draw.
The winner will be contacted using the contact details provided with their qualifying booking. if the winner cannot be contacted within a reasonable period, The Hobbit Motorlodge reserves the right to select another eligible winner.
The Hobbit Motorlodge reserves the right to amend, suspend or withdraw the promotion.
If an eligible booking is cancelled, refunded or otherwise does not proceed before the draw, it will no longer qualify for the draw. If an eligible booking is cancelled after the winner has been drawn, the prize will be forfeited.
